Introduction of Google Docs
To be honest, I did not know that much about Google Docs until one day I had several scanned PDF pages to digitalize. I were worried about how I could digitalize them, one of my colleagues recommended Google Docs. And I tried. To my surprise, it is so powerful. I figured out some other great features besides Google Docs OCR feature. So here I would like to share what I know about Google Docs with you.
To put it simple, Google Docs is a documents creator, editor, converter, manager as well as a platform to share documents. Here is the detailed information for its features.
Create documents.
It enables you to create any type of files in daily life, such as document, presentation, spreadsheet, form, table, drawing and so on. Clicking the “New” button in the upper left side of the main interface to choose the file type you need to create. You can also click the “From Template” to enter the Template Gallery. From there, you can choose to create files from “Public Templates”, “Templates I’ve used” or “My templates”. After that, a new file could open, ready for editing.
Edit documents
After you login with your email address, you can select the file from the Docs list to edit. On Google Docs, as I have mentioned, you can edit document, presentation, spreadsheet, form, table, drawing, etc.
Convert documents
Google Docs is able to convert documents files to other formats, like convert PDF to Spreadsheet, Word and Text, etc. What’s more amazing is that it supports OCR, so any image-based documents could be converted to text.
Manage and share documents
You are allowed to make your down folders to save documents. Just click the "New" button in the upper-left, choose folder to create new folders. Then you can put your documents into these folders you’ve created. To search for the very one you need, several options are available. You can enter the name of the file in the Docs list or just type the name of the person you share files with, then the results could be displayed in front of you quickly.
To share documents, you just need to add people to the permitting list. Just click the Share-settings on the right panel of the main interface. Then a box could pop up, asking you to add people.
